The Cameras We Trust — And Where to Get Them

People often ask what camera we use.
But here's the truth: it's not just about gear — it's about what the gear feels like.

At Koaplinchik, we shoot with tools that fade into the background — so the moment can rise into the light.
We choose equipment that helps us feel the stillness, capture the spark, and hold your memories in cinematic detail.

This page isn't technical. It's emotional.
These are the tools we trust when it matters most.

Canon EOS R6 on wood table in studio light, main body for maternity shoots in Leiden, soft window light, professional precision

Canon EOS R6

Our main storytelling body. Silent shutter. Sharp in low light. Perfect for golden hour or newborn rooms.

Available at:

Canon RF 50mm lens resting on blanket, emotional portrait lens for couples, golden hour light, dreamy bokeh quality

Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L

If we had to pick one lens forever, it's this one. Creamy bokeh, razor-sharp, wide open at f/1.2 — our signature.

Fujifilm X100V on shelf near window, used for documentary style shoots, natural light, vintage aesthetic warmth

Fujifilm X100V

For travel sessions and intimate storytelling. We use this when we want the camera to disappear.

Available at:

Sigma Art 35mm lens on dark surface, environmental storytelling lens, studio lighting, technical precision

Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4

Used for environmental portraits — when the setting matters just as much as the smile.

Questions About Our Gear

What camera do you use for maternity shoots?

Mostly the Canon R6 with the RF 50mm — it gives us softness without losing the emotion in the detail. For maternity sessions in Leiden and across Zuid-Holland, we often shoot at f/1.2 or f/1.4 to create that dreamy separation between subject and background that makes our golden hour portraits so distinctive.

Do you shoot wide open?

Yes — especially with the 50mm. Many of our portraits are taken at f/1.2 or f/1.4. It's how we get that dreamy depth. In our Voorschoten studio, we'll occasionally stop down to f/2.0 for newborn sessions where we want slightly more depth of field while maintaining that beautiful background separation.

Can I recreate your style with this gear?

Yes… but remember, it's not just the lens. It's the light, the timing, and the trust between us and the person in the frame.

Our signature look comes from a combination of golden hour light across the Netherlands, shooting wide open, and our post-processing approach that enhances the cinematic quality while maintaining natural skin tones.

What lighting equipment do you use in your Voorschoten studio?

Our Leidseweg 553 studio is designed around natural light, with large north-facing windows that create soft, flattering illumination. We supplement with Profoto B10 lights when needed, but our preference is always to work with the natural light that filters through our historic barn studio.

Do you offer photography workshops or mentoring?

We occasionally host small workshops at our Voorschoten studio, focusing on golden hour portraiture and the emotional aspects of photography rather than just technical settings. If you're interested in learning more about our approach, contact us for upcoming dates.
